Teaching Spelling
The overall aim of this book is to present a fresh and effective methodology for spelling improvement along with activities to help students who struggle with English spelling. To implement this methodology, teachers need an understanding of the problems that their students face in terms of the language, the learning process and the tuition they may receive.
This book is written primarily with teachers of English language learners (teens and adults) in mind.
However, English is English and learning is learning. So very much of the book will be relevant to teachers of:
young learners of English as a foreign language;
native-speaker adults who struggle with English spelling, due to lack of appropriate education or learning strategies, or perhaps a condition such as dyslexia;
native-speaker children (although this is the one group for which there is already extensive literature on spelling, teachers and parents are sure to find some new ideas and invaluable background information here too).
